Welding Supervisor/Chargehand
Location: Hayes, UB3
Salary: £40,000 to £48,000 (depending on experience)

Are you an experienced welder with a strong background in metalwork manufacturing, looking to take the next step into a management role? We are seeking a skilled Welding Supervisor/Chargehand to lead a team in the sheet metal fabrication and welding department. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior welder who wants to transition from hands-on work to a leadership position while still applying their technical expertise in welding processes, team coordination, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the welding and metalwork production team, coordinating activities to ensure the production process runs smoothly, efficiently, and on time.
  • Sign off on welders' work and ensure that all welding tasks meet the required standards, including adherence to UKCA welding requirements and reading weld symbols.
  • Oversee and maintain production schedules, ensuring deadlines are met and quality is consistently delivered.
  • Manage resources, monitor team performance, and maintain a strong focus on health and safety, ensuring that the team complies with all relevant industry standards.
  • Maintain inventory and stock levels, liaise with subcontractors, and work closely with dispatch to ensure smooth operations across departments.
  • Track production progress, including budget adherence and resource utilization, ensuring operational efficiency.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Knowledge of fabricated / sheet metal component manufacturing is essential.
  • Extensive experience in metalwork manufacturing, specifically in welding and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes, including UKCA welding requirements and the ability to read and interpret weld symbols.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or chargehand role in a production or manufacturing environment, ideally with team leadership responsibilities.
  • A senior welder looking to transition into management, with a solid understanding of production workflows and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills with the ability to manage a team, prioritize tasks, and ensure high standards of work.
