The Company

A leading spaceflight consultancy delivering comprehensive services in all areas of space industry development.

Summary:

Responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team of a consultancy specialising in spaceflight. The successful candidate will take the lead in delivering technical excellence, driving project success, and mentoring a team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background from the space sector within a senior technical or programmatic role, and experience in leadership and managing teams.

Experience & Skills

  • Extensive experience working within the space industry. Holding a senior technical or programmatic role (preferred launch service, launch site/spaceport, satellite manufacture and or operations, range control services) 

  • Experience of operating within the spaceflight value chain, engaging with customers and suppliers

  • Experience of working for/with national space agencies and regulations

  • Experience working with system engineering principles

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to work across a diverse set of projects

  • Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.


Key Responsibilities

  •  Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and expertise in  the global space sector, spaceflight operations, launch campaigns, from a technical, operational and commercial perspective

  • Review and approve project documentation, including designs, specifications, and calculations

  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between the company and its clients

  • Understand and translate customer requirements into project scope, milestones and deliverables

  • Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, technical presentations, and client pitches

  • Identify opportunities for new services, market and income streams that add value to the company and it’s clients.

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest spaceflight industry trends

  • Deputise for the CEO when required

  • Represent the company at conferences, workshops, and other industry events

  • Occasional travel within the UK and internationally
