Job Description

The Sherwin-Williams Sales and Management Development Program is an accelerated, entry-level opportunity crafted to ready you for a Store Management position within 18-24 months. Embracing a promote-from-within philosophy, you will have the chance to advance to an Assistant Store Manager role upon successful completion of the initial 8-week training.

This position typically requires a commitment of 44 hours per week, which may include evenings and weekends.

Throughout the program, you will partner with store management to oversee a million-dollar store, gaining valuable leadership experience and insight into operational strategies. You will learn to understand the client base and internal strategies, positioning you as a key contributor to the team’s achievements. Your role will involve expanding the company's market share by engaging with large commercial users, including painting contractors, purchasing agents, manufacturers, and other businesses that require significant volumes of our premium products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete training aligned with established program goals.

  • Build and foster positive relationships with wholesale and retail customers.
  • Oversee store administration tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures encompassing safety, loss prevention, and security.
  • Uphold outstanding store conditions and visual merchandising standards.
  • Assist with employee training, development, performance management, and corrective actions.
  • Address and resolve customer and employee complaints.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to make outside sales calls to enhance market share.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without requiring sponsorship.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted Driver's License.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree by the start of the training program.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in a retail, sales, or customer service role.
  • Experience in leadership roles, supervising teams.
  • Previous work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience selling paint and paint-related products.
  • Familiarity with timekeeping and/or customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Willingness to relocate for future job opportunities.
  • Ability to communicate in more than one language, preferably Spanish.
