Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The IT Specialist/Linux will have adequate experience and training to effectively perform the duties listed below:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and workstations.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD Security Technical Configuration Guides (STIGs)
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues.
  • Write scripts to automate processes.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required

  • An Associate in Science or Arts, or Applied Science, in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Two years of relevant experience. Relevant experience: RHEL5/6/7, LINUX Variants UNIX, syslog products, virtualization software, DISA STIGS, Shavlik, Puppet Server, ACAS/Nessus, PKI, Storage Area Networks, backup/restore solutions, and DNS.
  • Linux operating system training required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Require one of the following DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or Level III Certifications:
  • CCNA Security
  • CySA+
  • GICSP
  • GSEC
  • Security+ CE
  • CND
  • SSCP
  • CASP+ CE
  • CCNP Security
  • CISA
  • CISSP (or Associate)
  • GCED
  • GCIH
  • CCSP

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance highly desired however candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations on base.
  • Must maintain the capability to communicate with their supervisor and/or manager when not in the office.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently traverse stairs.
  • Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 lbs.
