An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead our Client’s UK Export Control team. Are you a proactive individual with strong leadership skills, has knowledge/experience of UK, European and US licencing regimes and who can work with a range of stakeholders.
Salary: depending on experience
Location: Stevenage
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS).
The opportunity:

Responsible for Export Control compliance with the relevant export control regimes by providing the business with a timely Export Licence service, conducting internal audits and hosting ECJU audits.

The role will provide an opportunity to work closely with the wider International Trade and Compliance teams in France, Italy and Germany, co-ordinate activities and harmonise approaches.

Develop relationships with numerous stakeholders internally and externally with the British and US administrations (ECJU, Ministry of Defence) and other companies.

Accountable for the Export Control Service in the UK and ensuring compliance whilst supporting organisational delivery, ensuring records are maintained and kept current

Negotiate amendments to existing Export Control Contracts where required removing liabilities and closing Agreements

Collect knowledge, best practice and lessons learned to ensure our Client is appropriately equipped and structured with the right processes and tools and records to successfully deliver Export Control activities.

You will lead the Export Control Team in the UK, have functional management & development responsibilities
What are we looking for from you:

Significant years of relevant Export Control / Compliance experience
-
Good understanding, both commercial and culturally, the implications of operating in the various export domains.

Established leadership and influencing management skills with the ability to lead a team and drive change

A strong ability to develop good working relationships with Directors and Business Managers.

Experience in creating positive engagement with partners, suppliers and customers.

Expertise and a good understanding – Export Licence service, compliance with regulations including conducting internal audits and hosting ECJU audits.

A firm understanding of legal implications and regulations related to export control.

The ability to bring vision & leadership to the Export Control Team in the UK whilst supporting our commitments within the wider group.
