The role

As a Fuel Handling Zone Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. As the Fuel Handling Zone Manager, you will work as part of a highly flexible motivated team initially managing the set to work and inactive commissioning of the latest suite of fuel handling tools and equipment.

Day to day, you'll assist with the day-to-day management of the Fuel Handling department production teams and the fuel handling support group teams.

  • Successfully deliver the department production objectives to time quality and cost under the guidance of the Fuel Handling Operations Manager.
  • Provide technical support to the wider business with respect to planning for future work streams that may require support from the refuel department.
  • Assist with the development of project schedules under the supervision and guidance of the Fuel Handling Operations Manager, to include the associated manpower forecast and cost base development.
  • As the Fuel Handling Zone Manager there will be the potential requirement to assume a Duly Authorised Person (DAP) role for the department if required.

Essential experience of the Fuel Handling Zone Manager:

  • Nuclear fuel handling experience is highly desirable but not essential
  • Working knowledge of nuclear submarine re-fitting.
  • Planning and project management experience is desirable
  • Experience managing, training and developing teams
  • Proven stakeholder management and relationship building skills.

This role is based onsite at Devonport.

Qualifications for the Fuel Handling Zone Manager:

  • HNC Level 5 Engineering / equivalent qualification or experience

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC and NNPPI security clearance level for this role.
