Fire Engineer - Birmingham

Our client is looking for an experienced Fire Engineer. You will be involved at the design stage of projects to specify the requirements of the construction with regard to fire safety. As a Fire Engineer you will visit construction sites on a fortnightly basis to check that the construction is going to plan with regard to the agreed design.

As a part of the team, you will have the opportunity to liaise with a wider team of highly skilled fire consultants with specialisms that incorporate a diverse range of fields. As Fire Engineer you will be supported in learning fire safety engineering techniques and practices by our highly competent fire engineering team.

You will be primarily based from home, with visits to site as required.

Main responsibilities as Fire Engineer:

  • Work closely with colleagues across all offices and support fire engineers at all levels on projects.
  • Manage own projects and assume responsibility for setting and meeting deadlines and keeping track of own financial performance and budgets.
  • Develop fire strategy designs utilising a mixture of code compliance and performance-based approaches within a wide range of sectors such as residential, commercial, heritage, sports grounds, healthcare etc.
  • Produce technical reports outlining assumptions and bases of design, methodologies and recommendations.
  • Keep up to date with new technologies and innovations in fire engineering and brief the team where relevant.
  • Continually advance your knowledge and skills in application of fire engineering principles and relevant legislation through continual professional development.
  • Attend and make a positive contribution to meetings, both internally and externally, and help us to continually improve.
