The role

As a Business Manager you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The purpose of this role is to support the Head of Operations with the day to day running of business operations.

Day to day, you'll lead on and manage the delivery of a broad range of business activities:

  • Business Planning: Collaborating with the Effectors management team to support integrated business planning, identifying the long-term business requirements that aligns to our strategy and objectives. Owning business continuity planning on behalf of the Line of Business and strategic workforce plans.

  • Optimising: Optimising the Line of Business operations including independently identifying activities and projects that are required to achieve the company strategy, business objectives and delivery requirements. Additionally, driving action based upon employee feedback to maintain and continually improve our employee experience.

  • Special Projects: Thinking outcomes, collaborate on special or other continuous improvement projects as required - having clear plans in place to understand the route to success and key performance indicators that help drive focus and performance.

  • Governance: drive focus into areas identified as opportunities to improve via internal and external auditing as well as against the Babcock 'Licence to Operate' controls process.

Essential experience of the Business Manager:

  • Someone who naturally relishes collaboration and working in partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, and with people from apprentices to senior management
  • A person who is adaptable and self-confident in navigating uncertainty, ambiguity and complexity in order to deliver continuous improvement.
  • You'll have proven comprehensive experience in business operations
  • Experience within a commercial/private industry or business, defence or project management environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication and work planning skills, with experience of briefing senior management - communicating complex issues and proposed solutions in simple terms
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat and other office productivity tools.

This role provides hybrid working arrangements with a mix of office and home working. You will be based from one of our offices in either Bristol or Plymouth, with expectation of regular travel to both of these offices.

Qualifications for the Business Manager:

  • Desirable to have a relevant degree or equivalent business experience
  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
