Job Description

The Sherwin-Williams Management & Sales Training Program is an exciting and fast-paced entry-level role designed to set you on a path toward a Store Management position in just 18-24 months. With our commitment to promoting from within, you could quickly move into an Assistant Store Manager position after successfully completing the initial 8-week training.

This program typically involves a 44-hour work week, including possible evenings and weekends. As part of the training, you'll work closely with store management to manage a million-dollar business, gaining invaluable experience in leadership and strategy development. You will engage with large commercial clients such as painting contractors and purchasing agents, enhancing our market share with our high-quality products.

Your responsibilities will include customer interaction (including minors), handling cash and payment methods, managing electronic equipment, and overseeing store merchandise. A criminal history review is necessary to ensure the safety of our customers and maintain our operations' integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete training consistent with the established program.
  • Support business strategies aimed at enhancing sales and profitability.
  • Ensure exceptional customer satisfaction through outstanding service.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of products to provide effective recommendations to customers.
  • Foster positive relationships with both wholesale and retail customers.
  • Manage store administration tasks.

  • Maintain optimal store condition and visual merchandising standards.
  • Assist in employee training and performance management initiatives.
  • Address and resolve any customer and employee complaints.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager on outside sales to expand market share.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted Driver's License.
  • Must hold a bachelor's degree by the start of the development program.
  • Ability to retrieve materials from shelves and lift up to 50 lbs frequently, and 70 lbs occasionally (with or without reasonable accommodation).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in retail, sales, or customer service.
  • At least one year in a leadership role supervising others.
  • Previous team-oriented work experience (occupation, extracurricular activities, military service, etc.).
  • Experience selling paint and paint-related products.
  • Familiarity with timekeeping and/or customer relationship management systems.
  • Willingness to relocate for future job opportunities.
  • Bilingual ability is a plus, especially in Spanish.
