Job Description

The Sherwin-Williams Floorcovering Management & Sales Training Program is an exciting opportunity designed to equip you for a role in Floorcovering Facility Management or Sales Representation within 18-24 months. Embracing a promote-from-within philosophy, we provide a pathway for advancement into positions such as Floorcovering Operations Manager or Field Technician after successfully completing the initial 8-to-12-week training. Sherwin-Williams Floorcovering serves professional clients across major markets throughout the United States, offering you career versatility and growth potential.

This position typically requires a commitment of 44 hours per week, which may include evenings and/or weekends.

Upon successful completion of the training program, candidates will have the opportunity to be positioned as either a Floorcovering Operations Manager or Floorcovering Field Technician in states such as Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and Ohio.

Throughout the training program, you will collaborate with facility leadership, sales, and regional management to oversee a multi-million-dollar business. You will gain valuable insights into facility operations, core products, installation techniques, customer service, and client development. This knowledge will empower you to significantly contribute to your team's success, grow market share, and service commercial clients, including large property management companies, builders, and renovation contractors.

As a management trainee, you will have customer interaction, which may involve minors; also, you will have access to cash, electronic equipment, store merchandise, and more. Thus, a review of criminal history is necessary to ensure the safety of our customers, staff, and business.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete the training program as outlined.
  • Support strategies to enhance sales and profitability.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through exceptional service.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of products to provide effective customer recommendations.
  • Build lasting relationships with both wholesale and retail customers.
  • Manage store administration tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security policies.
  • Uphold outstanding store conditions and visual merchandising standards.
  • Assist in employee training and development.
  • Quickly respond to and resolve customer and employee complaints.
  • Partner with Store Manager for outside sales calls to boost market share.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country without sponsorship.
  • Valid, unrestricted Driver's License is required.
  • Bachelor's degree is necessary by the start of the program.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and 70 lbs on occasion, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • If currently employed with Sherwin-Williams, a performance rating of at least meets expectations (3) on your latest appraisal is required.
  • Must complete all HR Cloud eLearning courses necessary for your position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of experience in retail, sales, or customer service.
  • One (1) year of leadership experience supervising teams.
  • Experience in team-oriented settings such as work, extracurricular activities, or military service.
  • Prior experience selling floorcovering or related products.
  • Familiarity with timekeeping or CRM systems.
  • Willingness to relocate for future job opportunities.
  • Ability to communicate in more than one language is a plus, especially Spanish.
